The Gut Stuff was founded in 2017. Having volunteered for twin research for Tim Spector, being at the forefront of scientific research into nutrition and the microbiome, co- founders Lisa and Alana Macfarlane discovered that despite being identical twins, with 100% the same DNA they only had around 30% the same gut bacteria. This could explain their completely different health pathways. At the time, research was uncovering links between the gut microbiome and everything from immunity to mental health. They used to be DJs (The Mac Twins), so couldnt have been further from the health and wellness world, but as soon as they realised how big the gaps were in the industry, they became passionate about bringing this information to EVERYONE and thus our gut journey began.
