History: Established in the Chianti Classico region at the Castello di Brolio in 1141, Barone Ricasoli is one of the four oldest wine estates in the world.
Regional information: Fermentation takes place at 24-27oC. Maceration is 12/16 days in contact with the skins. The wine is matured for 15 months in barriques and tonneaux.
Vinification: A mild autumn with little rainfall. Heavy snowfall in February with cold temperatures for several days. The Spring was mild with average temperatures between 15-18oC; a little rainfall concentrated in April allowed normal budbreak and good flowering. The Summer came early with high temperatures and no rain from mid-June to the end of August. In early September abundant rainfall refreshed the ground and the air, allowing the vines to resume the ripening process.
