Preparation and Usage
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
3 tbsp dry white wine
1 lemon, zested and juiced
3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 tsp fresh thyme
1 lb fingerling potatoes, halved
1 leek, trimmed, sliced in 1/2\ pieces
2 shallots, thinly sliced
1 lemon, thinly sliced
8 chicken thighs, skin on
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
3 tbsp butter
Preheat oven to 400F. In a small bowl, mix together Dijon mustard, white wine, lemon juice and zest, garlic, and thyme, then set aside.
Place potatoes, leeks, and shallots in an If You Care Medium Roasting Bag seam side up on a rimmed baking sheet or roasting pan. Then season the chicken with the garlic powder, salt and pepper and place inside the bag on top of the vegetables. Place the lemon slices in the bag and pour mustard mixture on top of the chicken and vegetables and
fold the open end of the bag tightly towards the top as many times as possible to seal.
Roast in the oven for 35 minutes, then remove from the oven and open the bag by either ripping or cutting with scissors to expose the top of the chicken. Use extreme caution, as the steam will be very hot. Baste chicken with butter, then place back in the oven to roast for another 15-20 minutes, or until desired brownness. Serve and enjoy!
How to Roast the Perfect Chicken, Fish or Vegetables
If You Care Roasting Bags were developed to help you roast the perfect chicken, fish or vegetable every time.
Place bag on baking pan seam side up and position prepped foods into center of bag
Fold open end of bag tightly toward the top to seal bag and place baking pan in oven.
When ready, remove from oven, let cool, then open top of bag along seam. Beware of hot steam.
Directions:
1. Open bag fully with the seam side up and place on a large baking pan.
2. Place prepared chicken, fish or vegetables in the center of the bag with the seam side facing up.
3. Seal the open end by folding tightly as many times as possible towards the top until it snugly fits contents.
4. Roast food at correct time and temperature for its weight and then remove the baking pan with roasting bag from the oven.
5. Carefully lift and remove bag from pan and let rest for at least 10 minutes before opening along top seam.
6. Use the drippings collected at the bottom of roasting bag to make a delicious gravy or sauce.
Warning!
Before cooking, do not lift roasting bag filled with ingredients as the bag can break. After cooking, use extreme caution when opening bag as the steam will be very hot.
Tips & Advice:
The bottom seam is designed to let steam out of the roasting bag during cooking and is not leakproof, so it is best not to fill the bag with too much liquid. For best results, place foods in center of bag and avoid over-filling
