Tasting Notes
History
Roman baths were found on the Estate testifying to human presence here going back several centuries. The water spring, sunshine, cultivable land and rocky outcrop that provides partial protection from the Mistral wind were already greatly appreciated at the time. But the vineyard as we know it now dates back to at least 1693, according to the inscription found on the Estates sundial. Inscriptions engraved in stone dating back to 1747 can also be seen: these are the signatures of the labourers who built the walls of the estate.
The Clos des Miran is almost entirely closed in by a stone wall hence the name Clos. The Miran were former owners of the vineyard.
At the turn of the century, the buildings which had fallen into ruin were fully restored and the fermenting cellar totally overhauled. The vines were also restored: damaged vines were pulled up and replanted with new varieties in order to improve the quality of the wines produced on the Estate.
Regional Information
The Clos des Miran vineyard is located in the southern part of the Ctes du Rhne appellation, south of Valence. At the crossroads of three regions: Rhne-Alpes, Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence-Alpes-Ctes dAzur, the vineyard is located on the Mas Conil plain in Pont-Saint-Esprit in the Gard area.

Vinification Details
Pre-fermenting cold maceration for 24 hours, in order to extract as much colour and aroma as possible. The temperature then gradually increases during fermentation up to a peak of 30C. The grape varieties are blended before being aged in stainless steel tanks.
