Take control of your prostate health with the SELFcheck Prostate Test Kit, a simple and reliable at-home test for men.
A simple and reliable home test kit to detect abnormal levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) using a finger pick blood sample. Results within 10 minutes.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men over 50. The SELFCheck Prostate Health Test is a quick and easy way to check at home whether you have abnormal levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. PSA is a protein made by the prostate gland in men and is naturally secreted at low levels into the blood stream. A higher than normal PSA level can be due to enlargement of the prostate gland, prostatitis or a urine infection. It is also an early indicator of prostate cancer. The level of PSA is the most valuable blood test currently available for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer although PSA can also be elevated in other conditions. Prostate cancer is less common in men below the age of 50 and the average age of diagnosis is over 70. A PSA test can provide indication of a pre-clinical condition before symptoms develop.
Keep out of reach of children. This test is suitable only for men. Read the instructions carefully before touching the components or starting your test. Further help on how to use your test and interpret your results is provided by a UK helpline.
Foil pouch containing test cassette, developer solution, dropper to collect blood sample, sterile automatic lancet and instructions for use.
The SELFCheck Prostate Health Test requires a finger prick blood spot produced using the sterile automatic lancet included with the test kit. the blood drop is added to the test cassette which gives a yes/no result within 10 minutes as to whether your PSA level is higher than 4ng/ml or in the normal range. If you are concerned about your prostate health or have a higher than normal level of PSA speak to your doctor. It is advised that should you have any concerns or questions about your test result that you consult your Doctor.
The SELFCheck Prostate Health Test kit can be used at any time of the day but check the instructions for use regarding use following vigorous exercise and other activities. A positive result means that your PSA is higher than normal but doesn’t necessarily mean that you have prostate cancer. Nevertheless, you should make an appointment with your doctor at the earliest opportunity to discuss your result.
