No Palm oil, registered B Corp, Buy Women Built- Churros is likely to date back to the 16th century in Spain. One story suggests Spanish shepherds who were travelling high in the mountains with their sheep invented churros as a snack that was easy to make in a frying pan over the campfire. They named their new pastry âchurrosâ because it reminded them of the shape of the horns of a type of sheep called Navajo Churro.Luckily, we don't need to travel to Spain to enjoy these delicious treats as the Mon Dessert kit makes them so easy to recreate at home. Preparation and Usage
-Frying oil
-150ml milk
1) Mix the Coating: Open the sugar cinnamon from the kit and spread out onto a plate. This will create your irresistible coating.
2) Prepare the Dough Empty the churros mix into a bowl. Add 85ml of your preferred milk. Adjust with an additional teaspoon if the dough is too thick. Aim for a smooth, pipeable consistency that holds its shape without being overly runny. Once achieved, transfer the dough into a piping bag and cut the end to create a 1cm opening.
3) Heat the Oil: Take a shallow frying pan and fill it 3/4 of the way up with oil and heat. You'll know it's ready when a wooden spoon handle creates bubbles when inserted into the oil. Pipe in churros snipping off to 10cm. Fry until they turn a beautiful golden colour (usually 1.5 minutes on each side). Fry 3-4 churros at a time to prevent clumping.
4) Coat: After frying, let the churros drain on kitchen paper briefly. While they're still warm, roll them in the sugar-cinnamon to generously coat them.
5) Make the Sauce: Take the chocolate drop sachet from the kit and melt its contents into 60ml of hot milk in a saucepan until you achieve a smooth, velvety sauce. Your delightful churros are now ready to be savored. Dip them in and enjoy to your heart's content.
Tip: Use single cream instead of milk for your chocolate sauce for extra indulgence. Send off for for one of our star shaped nozzles to create those distinctive ridges (instructions inside). You can also pipe churros on grease proof paper and put into an air fryer spraying lightly with oil.Package Type
