History: McGuigan Wines was established to celebrate the culmination of 3 generations of wine growing by the McGuigan family. Founder Brian McGuigan adopted the central symbol of the family crest, the lion, to reflect inspiration & the McGuigan's enduring spirit & passion for producing great quality Australian wine. Regional information: The majority of the fruit for this wine was sourced from premium vineyards within South Australia. The continental climate ensured a hot growing season resulting in long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. The combination of these conditions allowed this vintage to develop into an optimal vintage, delivering wines of intense fruit depth and natural acidity
Vinification: The fruit from this batch was crushed and de-stemmed where a portion of the wine was transferred onto oak in temperature controlled environments to maximise fruit flavour and retention. A selected yeast strain was also added during this process. Post fermentation, the majority of the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks with a percentage of the wine transferred onto French & American oak for further maturation.
