Do not move a burning or recently extinguished candle. Burn away from draughts. Keep wax pool clear of matches and other debris to avoid flaring.
Extinguish carefully if flame becomes enlarged - do not blow out. Never allow the flame to contact the glass. Candles may produce some soot; to minimise this, regularly trim the wick to 10mm. Extinguish carefully when there is at least 6mm of wax remaining.
