Tasting Notes
The fruit-driven Pinotage, which offers a good, juicy glass of wine, as handled very gently in the cellar to preserve its generous aromas of black cherries, cloze and raspberry jam. A smooth and juicy palate, redolent with ripe mulberries, and glimmers of tobacco and spice from gentle oaking, is followed by an appealingly savoury finish.
History
The
wine estate was built in 1920 and by 1947 the wine cellar was completed and a
group of local farmers starting making wines under the Franschhoek Cellar
name. In 2008, a return to private ownership saw Franschhoek Cellar
move back to its roots in celebrating its heritage and focusing on creating
varietal wines that reflect our unique South African terroir. Franschhoek is
one of the truly great wine & food destinations in South Africa. Regional Information
