You can also cut out shapes from our Ready Rolled Icing and use to cover biscuits or cupcakes.
Get Baking!
To cover a cake spread a thin layer of smooth apricot jam or buttercream on the cake.
To cover a layer of marzipan brush the marzipan with water.
Carefully unroll
Ensure the icing is at room temperature, to prevent cracking. Carefully and slowly unroll the icing.
Drape over cake
Lift the plastic sheet and drape over your cake, icing side down. Gently peel away the plastic sheet.
Smooth down
Smooth the icing over the care from the top to the edges and down the sides. Trim away any excess icing with a sharp knife.
For a perfect finish, polish the icing using the palm of your hand to create a sheen on the surface.Instructions
1. Moisten surface of marzipan with cooled boiled water, or if applying directly to an unmarzipanned cake, first brush cake with boiled, Apricot Glaze (shredless marmalade can be used as an alternative).
2. When covering a sponge cake, a thin layer of butter icing may be used in place of jam.
3. Remove roll from carton, cut off foil wrap and remove roll.
4. Unroll icing disc.
5. Carefully fold disc in half around inner tube (or your own rolling pin).
6. Holding the ends, lift the disc placing it over the centre of cake.
7. Smooth the icing over top of cake and carefully pull out folds while smoothing down sides.
8. Trim off any excess around the bottom of cake with a sharp knife to give a neat finish.
9. Smooth surface with palm of your hand.
10. Decorate as desired.Package Type
