Not recommended for children under 12 years.
Not to be used if you have glaucoma (an eye condition), megacolon (a very enlarged colon), myasthenia gravis (a very rare muscle weakness), or are allergic to hyoscine butylbromide or the other ingredients.

Uses

Dosage: Only take Buscopan® IBS Relief if your doctor has diagnosed that you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. You must consult your doctor if you are over 40 years old and it is some time since your last attack of IBS or the symptoms are different this time.

For Adults and children 12 Years or Over Only:
Start by taking one tablet 3 times a day. If more relief is needed, you can increase your dose to a maximum of two tablets 4 times a day. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew it.

Tips and Advice

The symptoms of IBS vary from one person to another, but if you’ve been experiencing any of the following symptoms for at least six months, you could be suffering from IBS:

  • Abdominal pain or discomfort: IBS pain is often described as ‘stabbing’, ‘sharp’ and ‘intense’ (not a ‘burning’ sensation like indigestion or heartburn) and it’s caused by spasms in your digestive tract.
  • Bloating or swelling of your abdomen: some IBS sufferers say the abdominal bloating caused by IBS can even make them ‘look pregnant’ or affect what clothes they wear.
  • Changes in your bowel habits: a change in what's normal for you to either constipation or diarrhoea and sometimes alternating between the two.If that sounds like you, we’d advise you first to seek advice from your doctor who will talk through your symptoms in more detail.There are some common triggers: being stressed, diet, hormones and some medicines. Knowing what sets off your IBS can help you to manage it.
