Time spent ageing in two distinct oak barrels gives The Macallan's Double Cask single malt its unique taste. American oak gives the blend its delicate nuances, with flavours of vanilla, citrus and butterscotch, while European oak gives the label’s signature hints of rich fruit and spice. After ageing for 12 years, the whisky takes on a warmer, honeyed taste than normally expected, but still boasts the utter refinement one would expect from Macallan.
