Compton features exquisite tulips and honeysuckle against layers of meandering foliage. Originally printed by hand, using twenty-eight wooden blocks with a different block for each colour, this design translates beautifully onto a luxurious 250 thread count, cotton sateen base. Coloured in Summer-inspired shades of soft greens, ochre and pink, the pillowcases and duvet are finished with a tailored oxford edge. This bed-set is paired with a contemporary soft yellow, stripe design, created from one of Morris' border designs from a trial page for Love is Enough; the William Morris Gallery archive holds a first edition of Love is Enough, a poetic dialogue published by Ellis and White in 1873.
