History: Madame Clicquot created the first blended rosé champagne, adding red wine to white champagne, in 1818. In the centuries since, it has been perfected to become the naturally bold rosé it is today.
Regional information: The Veuve Clicquot terroir encompasses one of the finest vineyards in the entire region, with 95% of Veuve Clicquot vines classified as Grand or Premier Crus. From the legendary Pinot Noir of the mythical Clos Colin, to the vines growing on hillsides in generous sunshine, terroir is essential to the remarkable quality of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
Vinification: Mixing the maison's original Yellow Label Brut (44-48% pinot noir, 13-18% meunier and 25-29% chardonnay) with red wine from specially selected black grapes (12%) creates a blush-pink and well-balanced rosé.
