Sylva Orchard begins with English regenerative pale malted barley from Muntons in Suffolk, selected as the base distillate for its raisin and biscuit character. Plum wood from a Welsh family orchard is joined by apple wood from Worcestershire's orchards and cherry wood from the distillery's own wild cherry trees, with the wood smoke drawn from cherrywood itself.
A vibrant orchard opens up with ripe red cherries, stewed plums, and crisp apple peel drifting gently with a soft, sweet smoke. Beneath the fruit, there's warm notes of toasted malt, biscuit and vanilla, with hints of Bakewell tart. Lush and layered: juicy stone fruits lead the way into velvety malt and subtle caramel. Mid-palate, the influence of apple and plum wood emerges with a mellow, almost honeyed warmth, while cherrywood adds a marzipan and nougat character. A whisper of smoke threads through it all, never overpowering, but adding depth and elegance. The finish is smooth and long, with a final flourish of dark berries, cherry blossom and comforting smoke.
