Sancerre Rosé
Wine of France
Grow in vineyards of the Loire valley, where the terroir is rich in small limestones known locally as caillottes.
Sancerre Rosé is a rare style of Sancerre. Made purely from classified Pinot Noir vineyards in the upper reaches of the Loire valley in northern France, 'Les Caillottes' takes its name from a terroir rich in small limestones (known locally as 'caillottes').
Pale petal pink; pretty aromas of ripe fruit intertwined with soft floral tones, the palate is delicately fruity, streaked with a refreshing zest from start to finish.

History: Caves des Vins Sancerre was founded in 1963 when a handful of local growers joined forces to face up to the economic difficulties of the time. The cooperative cellar was created in the heart of the vineyard in the city of Sancerre.
Caves des Vins Sancerre remains the only co-operative in the appellation and now includes over one hundred vine growers. Export currently represents 60% of production.
Regional information: The most dominating geographical influence of Sancerre is the nearby Loire river which flows northward past the city before it curves westward at Orleans and makes its path to the ocean.
Vinification: The vines are trained using the Guyot method and then Machine Harvested in September-October 2019.
This is a rosé made of 1/3 pressed juice and 2/3 rosé de saignée, made by running off, or bleeding, the free-run juice from just crushed grapes after a short pre-fermentation maceration. The wine undergoes fermentation with selective yeast in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks with no malolactic treatment for 3 months.
