Sainsbury's Adult Chesty Cough Syrup 300ml

Sainsbury's Healthcare Chesty & Mucus Cough 100mg/5ml Oral Solution is taken to relieve chesty coughs.

Active Ingredients: Guaifenesin 100 mg per 5 ml.

Full Ingredients List: Guaifenesin 100 mg per 5 ml, glucose, methylhydroxybenzoate E218, citric acid E330, sodium citrate E331, sodium saccharin E954, carmoisine red E122, caramel E150c, cherry flavour, ethanol and purified water.

Size: 300ml.

Dosage: For oral use. Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years of age: Take 5 to 10 ml every two or three hours. Not more than 4 doses should be given in any 24 hours. Do not take more medicine than the label tells you to. Do not take with any other cough and cold medicines. Please wipe bottle neck after use. If cap becomes stuck run under warm water for 30 seconds. Not recommended for children under 12 years. Stop use and ask a healthcare professional if your cough lasts for more than 5 days, comes back, or is accompanied by a fever, rash or persistent headache.

Storage: Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 25C.

Pharmaceutical Warnings:

• Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
• Consult your doctor before use:
  • If you are taking any prescribed medicines or undergoing medical tests.
  • If you suffer from a chronic cough.
  • If you have asthma or are suffering from acute asthma attack.
  • If you have an intolerance to some sugars.
  • Contains 4.4 g of glucose per 10ml dose. This should be taken into account in patients with diabetes mellitus.
  • This medicinal product also contains ethanol, E122 and E218.
• Further Warnings:
  • This medicinal product contains 2.4 vol% ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 191 mg per 10 ml dose, equivalent to 4.9 ml of beer or 2 ml of wine per 10 ml dose.
  • Harmful for those suffering from alcoholism.
  • To be taken into account in pregnant or breast-feeding women, children and high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
  • Guaifenesin may increase the rate of absorption of paracetamol.
  • Contains E122 - may cause allergic reactions.
  • Contains E218 - may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
• Side effects: If you get any of these serious side effects, stop taking the medicine. See a doctor at once: Difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat (severe allergic reactions). These other effects are less serious: If they bother you talk to a pharmacist: Other allergic reactions (e.g. skin rash, red itchy skin). Feeling sick, being sick, stomach discomfort.
