History
Barolo is one of Italy's great wine producing regions with a history of producing fine, dry red wines going back 150 years. The wines are made exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape and aged for long periods in oak casks before bottling.
Regional Information
Barolo is situated in the Italian region of Piedmont in the north-west corner of the country bordering France. The area is sandwiched between the Alps to the north and the Mediterranean to the south, resulting in warm summers and cool winters which result in elegant, beautifully balanced wines with long ageing potential. Vinification Details - The Nebbiolo grapes were crushed and destemmed and then transferred to stainless steel vats for fermentation at between 25-28°C. The wine macerated on the grape skins for between 6 to 8 days to deepen the flavours and structure. The wine was then aged in American and French oak for 24 months before bottling.
