How to use your compass: The red section of the needle on your compass will point to magnetic North(unless affected by magnets in close proximity).The red arrow on the body of the compass is the direction arrow.In order to take a bearing or select a direction of travel first hold your compass flat in your hands with the short end parallel to your chest and the direction arrow pointing away from you.Whilst holding the compass as described,rotate yourself until the direction arrow is pointing at the direction you wish to travel.Without moving the compass turn the black dial on the compass until the North icon(N) on the outer ring is aligned with the red end of the needle.The direction indicated on the outer ring where it meets the red line of the direction arrow is the direction of travel.To select a specific direction of travel,whilst holding the compass as previously described,turn the black dial until the desired direction on the outer ring is inline with the red line of the direction arrow.Once set rotate yourself until the red end of the needle aligns with the North icon(N) on the outer ring.Once aligned the red arrow will show the desired direction of travel.
