How to use

Warning: Wash your hands thoroughly with clean water and soap before touching the nipple shield and your breast. Dry your hands with a clean towel or single use paper towel.

• 1. Place shield over the centre of your nipple, with the milk channel facing upward towards the centre for easy viewing. From your breastfeeding position, you should be able to see the tube.
• 2. Have your baby latch to your breast with the shield attached. The tube should be positioned between the baby's lips.
• 3. The milk should begin flowing through the tube but may take up to 90 seconds for let down to happen. You will be able to observe the milk flow rate, its colour and your baby's unique nursing patterns.
• Note: Keep in mind that the milk flows through the tube as long as your baby is nursing. The consistency of your baby's suckling can vary and occasionally the baby may take a break, which will be observed as pauses or backward milk flow in the loop. The presence of air bubbles in the milk tube is normal.
• 4. Once feeding is done, move to cleaning.

Storage

• Place the clean, dry nipple shield and syringe in a clean storage case.
• Ensure that any remaining water or moisture is dried.
• Do not store nipple shield and syringe in a sealed container or bag as it may cause bacteria growth if not properly air dried.
• Avoid exposing to direct sunlight and avoid keeping in a car for prolonged period of time.

• 2. Do not use the product if the packaging has been opened or damaged.
• 3. Always follow cleaning, disinfecting, and storage instructions for proper care and use. Exposure to lint, dust, and sunlight may interfere with product performance.
• 4. Inspect the shield before each use. If you detect any damage or weakness, discard it immediately. Examples include unacceptable deterioration such as pitting, cracked seals, reduced flow, block cavity, particulate on the channel, separation of the channel from body and other abnormalities.
• 5. Flow Nipple Shield is intended for use by one mother. If feeding more than one baby, clean between uses.
• 6. Keep the shield away from children when not in use.
• 7. Use only Munchkin Cleaning Syringe and Sterilisation Case for cleaning and storage.
• 8. If milk does not appear in the tube or you experience pain while breastfeeding or other issues, consult with a lactation consultant or physician.
