Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or a propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 7-14 days. Remove cover when seedlings appear. Transplant to individual pots when 10cm tall. Grow on at approx. 15°C. For greenhouse crops: Transplant to growing position in grow bags or large pots in the greenhouse in April to May. For outdoor crops: Stand outside for a few days late May (avoid frosts). Transplant to a sunny spot outside. Pinch out side shoots regularly and growing tips once 5-6 trusses have set. Provide support with canes. Keep moist and weed free. June to October, outdoor crops from August. Apply a feed every 2-3 weeks after the first trusses have set.
