First launched in 2003, Martin Miller's Westbourne dry gin was created in response to requests for a Martin Miller's gin that would give more 'Old School' authenticity to the classic repertoire of gin cocktails.Martin Millers' answer was the gin you will discover within this box.Martin Miller's Westbourne dry gin.You will find it's emphasis on the spicier, peppery notes of cassia and nutmeg, harnessed to a higher strength make it the most versatile of gins.As with all Martin Miller's Gins it employs two different distiillations both using a copper pot still. About 75 km north of Reykjavik, standing by Borgarfjrur, is the small village of Borgarnes. It was first noted in the Icelandic sagas as the home of the of the famous Viking warrior and 'Berserker' Egils Skallagrimsson. Borgarnes was authorised as a trading port in 1861.
It was to Borgarnes, in 1999, that Martin Miller was drawn in his search for the perfect water with which to craft his gin. The water source he found there was pure it requires no treatment prior to use. Treatments such as demineralization or pasteurisation have a profound effect, rendering the treated water totally neutral, resulting in it having virtually no effect on the finished gin beyond diluting it to bottling strength. But water is the major ingredient in gin, making up to sixty percent of the total in the bottle.
For Martin Miller this made no sense at all. That is why he sought out and used Icelandic Spring water for his blending. Its soft mouth feel and unique ability to hold and gently release his gins unique and is now the secret at the heart of all Martin Miller's Gins.
Distilled in England, Westbourne Dry Gin is handcrafted in small batches using a copper pot still taking only the spirit's 'heart'. Created using two separate distillates, one heavily reliant on Juniper, the other citrus, the two distillates are skillfully blended to give this gin its unique balance of herbaceous Juniper and brilliant citrus notes.
Blended to a bottling strength of 45.2%, Westbourne Dry Gin is bright, and soft with attractive, complex, aromas of Pepper and Cassia.
With its long, dry finish this multi-award winning gin is the perfect accompaniment to all the classic cocktails. G &Ts, and makes the perfect dry MartiniManufacturer
