Research shows that the macular carotenoids - Lutein, Meso-Zeaxanthin and Zeaxanthin - are found at the back of the eye, in the macula. The macula is a sensitive part of the eye that is responsible for detailed, central vision. Here, the macular carotenoids form the macula pigment, which looks like a yellow spot at the back of the eye. The body can't make macular carotenoids, so we have to consume them in our diet. The macular carotenoids used within MacuShield are obtained from Marigolds (Tagetes erecta), the flowers specifically are used. What is Omega 3? Omega 3 is a family of nutrients, also known as fatty acids, that are found in a variety of foods. One of the three main types of Omega 3 is docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA. DHA is scientifically proven to help maintain normal vision. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of DHA.
Ingredients: Oil from microalgae Schizochytrium sp, capsule shell {humectant [glycerol (E 422)], modified corn starch, gelling agent [carrageenan (E 407)], colour [iron oxides and hydroxides (E 172)]}, marigold extract (of which 15% is combined lutein, meso-zeaxanthin and zeaxanthin, sunflower oil), emulsifier [mono-and diglycerides of fatty acids (E 471)], riboflavin (vitamin B2).
