Our Loved & Found wines are lesser-known varieties from around the world, carefully chosen by our buyers. Mataro, also known as Mourvèdre, has been grown in Australia for use as a blending grape since the mid-19th century. Many of the old vines were uprooted in the 1980s as part of a government scheme, but a few savvy growers realised its potential and kept their vines, producing complex single varietal wines like this with its juicy berry fruit flavours, hints of Chinese five spice, pepper and violet, and aromas of cocoa and liquorice. Pair with peppered steak, game or vegetarian dishes with wild mushrooms and thyme.
