The Les Marennes Sancerre Rouge comes from vineyards planted on the chalky clay and pebble slopes of Sancerre, one of the finest vineyards of the Loire Valley. Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes picked at optimum maturity, the destemmed grapes undergo a long maceration both before and during fermentation in order to extract the finest fruit characters and silky tannins. Maturation takes place in tank on fine lees with a natural malolactic fermentation occuring in spring. The wine has an intensely fruity nose combining black cherry, raspberry, black currant and violets. The palate is rich and elegant packed with plum and cherry characters and a long, delicately spicy finish. Delicious with roasted meats, game dishes and cheeses.
