The Brajkovich family and Kumeu River Wines is a story that parallels the New Zealand wine industry. From the pioneering days to the establishment of the New Zealand wine industry to today, the Brajkovich family have been internationally recognised as producing world class wine. The first vineyard was bought in 1944 and the estate has now grown to 30 hectares
Regional Information
Despite being situated well north of New Zealands other viticultural regions, Kumeus climate is cooled through its close proximity to both the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean. This climate , combined with soil types very efficient at retaining water where needed, results in conditions that enhance the fantastic aromas and flavours from early ripening varieties such as chardonnay and pinot gris.
