Halen Mon Pure Sea Salt PDO - Crunchy Sea Salt Flakes

Halen Mon can be used wherever salt is called for, at the table or in your cooking. You will need less than half of the amount of table salt you wold normally use, so add very little at first until you get used to it.

Canadian Butter TartsShortcrust pastry75g raisinsCointreau or boiling water1 tbsp candied orange peel (optional)60 g good quality butter110 g light brown sugar340 g golden syrup2 free range eggs slightly beaten1 tsp vanilla essenceLine muffin tins with shortcrust pastry, but do not prick it. (This mixture will make 12 to 18 shells, depending on the tin depth.)Soak raisins in boiling water or Cointreau until softened. Add candied orange peel cut into small pieces if used. Drain raisins and arrange in the tart shells.Mix together the butter, light brown sugar and golden syrup. Add the eggs and vanilla essence. Mix until just blended. Spoon into the unbaked shells to two-thirds full (any fuller and they will overflow).Bake for 15 to 18 minutes at 190°C/375 °F/gas mark 5.Sprinkle the tops with Pure Hale Mon or Halen Mon with Vanilla to taste, and serve slightly warm with a good quality vanilla ice cream.Other ideas: Sprinkle on your breakfast boiled egg. Slip a few flakes onto a sliced homegrown tomato. Dip a chip into a crunchy pile of Pure Halen Mon for absolute indulgence.
