Gaviscon Double Action Aniseed is a combination of two antacids (calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate. It works in two ways: neutralising excess stomach acid to relieve pain and discomfort, and forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents to soothe burning pain in the chest. It is used for the treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion, which may occur following meals or during pregnancy, and for symptoms of excess stomach acidity (hyperacidity).
Active ingredients per 10ml: 500mg sodium alginate, 213mg sodium bicarbonate, 325mg calcium carbonate.
Other ingredients: carbomer, methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates, benzyl alcohol (present in fennel flavour), sodium saccharin, fennel flavour, sodium hydroxide, water. This product does not contain sugar or gluten.
Dosage: For oral use. Shake well before use. Adults and children 12 years and over: take 10-20ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. Children under 12 years: only on medical advice. If symptoms persist after 7 days, consult a doctor.
Warnings: Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Contains sodium (127.88mg per 10ml), benzyl alcohol, methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoates which may cause allergic reactions. Do not take within two hours of other medicines. Consult a doctor if pregnant, breastfeeding, or have liver or kidney disease. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not store above 30°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Use within 6 months of opening.
