Domaine André Brunel is a prestigious estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, known for its old vines planted on the region's classic 'galet' pebble soils. A Fortnum's partner for over thirty years, the domaine is now run by Fabrice Brunel, André's son. In addition to the family's vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Fabrice owns 40 hectares in Côtes du Rhône, which is the home of this longstanding Fortnum's favourite. Our approachable Grenache-based Côtes du Rhône offers all the class of the Châteauneuf, with an approachable, easy-drinking appeal. Luscious black fruit and a distinctive bouquet of warm spices make this a wonderful and versatile wine, ideal on its own or with simple, weeknight dishes. Illustrator Jasmine Hortop has taken the old, gnarly vines of the Rhône for the label's inspiration, where the flowing shapes also remind us of the river, with the help of a little eau-de-nil blue.
Tasting NoteFull of ripe berry fruit and hints of warming spice, this Côtes du Rhone is rich yet approachable - an ideal partner for roasted vegetables, casseroles or cosy dinners.
