Wine of Argentina. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.100% Chardonnay from Block C2, 5ha of vines planted in 2006 at the Finca Ferrer estate. At an altitude of 1310m nestled in the foothills of the Andes and the shadow of the Dos Cumbres (twin peaks) of the Tupungato and Tupungatito volcanoes, the soils are deep alluvial sands over pockets of rich limestone rocks. Higher than average sunshine and cold nights help the Chardonnay grapes develop a ripe but fresh maturity with intense lemon and tropical citrus notes. Hand-harvested from selected low-yielding rows of vines within Block C2 on 8th February 2016 in 18kg boxes, the grapes were sorted and cold-soaked before pressing. The majority of the must was fermented in stainless steel at 16°C for just over 3 weeks with a small proportion being fermented in new American oak barrels for 6 months. An intense programme of lees stirring followed both fermentations for a total of 3-4 months in order to build complexity and mouthfeel without losing crispness.
