Big wines with lots of flavour are increasingly hard to find. Odd fact is, winemakers hate talking about them and yet drinkers love them. There's a jolly good reason: they're lip-smackingly delicious. We think it's the elephant in the room or more accurately-cellar. This pinot embraces everything that was great about gargantuan wines before the style police took control. A monster of mouthfeel it's big on velvetyness and attitude. Fashion 0. Flavour 10.

History: The Elephant in the Room wines are proudly large in scale and expansive in flavour. Developed from the idea that whilst many wine-lovers still love their full-flavoured wines, there has been a trend for lighter and finer wine styles being crafted by the modern-day winemaker. Elephant in the Room proudly continues to make the wines we all enjoy, with fashion at zero & flavour at 10.
Regional information: Sourced mainly from low yielding vineyards near Mount Gambier in the east of the Limestone Coast wine region. The higher altitude aspect and cool evening temperatures combine to ensure the retention of natural acidity in the elegant fruit harvested whilst the long, slow ripening ensures excellent flavour development.
Vinification: Partially hand before de-stemming and fermentation in a combination of two tonne open fermenters with ten percent whole bunch and twice daily hand plunging and larger closed fermenters with pump overs. All components blended post fermentation before three quarters were matured in stainless steel and one quarter was matured in French oak for four months before bottling with minimal fining, filtration and sulphur addition.
