The bohemian neighbourhood of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, 1963. Guided by a desire to share their olfactory memories, Yves Coueslant, Christiane Gautrot, and Desmond Knox-Leet created Diptyque's first three scented candles: Aubépine (Hawthorn), Cannelle (Cinnamon) and Thé (Tea).
The three founders' fascination with nature gave rise to an exceptional herbarium of scents comprising more than fifty candles. Flowers, fruits, trees, herbs and spices make up this living collection.
The result of exceptional craftsmanship, the art of perfumery meets candle-making expertise. Each candle is made from a blend of several types of wax and a high-quality fragrance concentrate, as well as a selection of wicks that guarantee perfect scent diffusion and combustion. Meticulous work carried out in two factories, near Paris and in Provence, by master candle makers.
