It was equipped with a 75 mm cannon. The ammunition and the flammable engine initially made the Shermans an easy target for the heavier German tanks. Only after the construction was refined could the roles be reversed. A total of approximately 49,000 of all versions of the Sherman were produced. The tank was used by, the USA, Great Britain, Poland, France and the USSR. It had a reputation as a reliable, easy-to-manufacture and well-armed tank.
