It was in 1931 that Mr D. S. Chatwal, a former Indian Army Officer came to England. He opened a store called the Bombay Emporium in Grafton Way, London W1, selling Indian Spices, Pickles and dry goods.
It soon became very popular with spice enthusiasts who travelled from all over london and further afield to buy their wonderfully sourced and presented products. He was a pioneer of importing and introducing new flavours to the british people and they loved it.
