Based west of Pauillac, Château Grand Puy Lacoste is a prestigious 5ème Cru Classé estate where the vines stem from coarse gravel-based, limestone soil. The vineyards contain 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc with an average age of 38 years old. This wine is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot. Aging took place In French oak barrels (75% new barrels each vintage) for between 16 to 18 months depending on the vintage.
Tasting Notes: The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is excellent, offering up aromas of cassis and plums mingled with pencil shavings, violets and loamy soil framed by a touch of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, pure and fleshy, with lively acids, powdery tannins and good depth at the core, its supple, charming style belies considerable ageing potential.
