Pair this 2020 vintage with grilled red meats or truffle dishes. The Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou Saint Julien is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, aged in 100% new French oak. This exceptional Bordeaux comes from France.
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou takes its name from its unique terroir of beautiful pebbles ( beaux cailloux ), which are Günzian and Pyrenean gravel soils that offer excellent drainage. The 2020 vintage, which celebrated the estate's 300th anniversary, is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot. The wine was aged for approximately 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot... it has a saturated purple hue to go with an incredible, mineral-laced bouquet of crème de cassis, liquid violets, graphite, and tobacco leaf. More structured and concentrated than any of the Léovilles, this blockbuster, deep, concentrated, full-bodied Saint-Julien has off-the-charts purity, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. I wrote in my notes, 'Like the 2010, only better.' - Score 100 - Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, March 2023
Serving Suggestions
Pairs best with g rilled or roasted red meats or rich, hearty dishes with truffle or mushroom based sauces. Also pairs well alongside hard mature cheese like aged Cheddar or Comté.
