Château de Beaucastel and Famille Perrin are one of the pre-eminent producers from the Southern Rhône appellation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Coudoulet is the part of the estate which sits outside of the boundaries and therefore is determined with the Côtes du Rhône appellation. It consists of 30 hectares of vines, which are planted on very similar soils to those of the main estate. Often considered as the baby Beaucastel, Coudoulet de Beaucastel is a blend of Grenache (40%) Mourvedre (30% ) Syrah (20%) and Cinsault (10%). Each variety is harvested manually and separately, then sorted in the cellar and blended after malolactic fermentation.
A beautiful garnet-red in colour, the wine is elegant and subtle. The nose reveals seductive aromas of fresh red berries with cherry flesh to the fore, while the palate is rich and luscious with harmony and poise. The finish is beautifully long and balanced.
This is a wine to be paired with pork chops, venison and lamb. The structure and depth of Mourvedre enables it to match up also with braised or seared meats.
Please note, this product contains the allergen sulphites.
