Newly launched, Château Anseillan is the third wine of Château Lafite Rothschild. Anseillan is actually 'lieu-dit', a named locality within the Lafite Rothschild estate, that can be seen on the horizon at the summit of a gravel outcrop, as you look out east from Château Lafite. It is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot, and has spent 18 months in oak barrels in Lafite's cellars, before being recently released.
Expressive flavours of cherries and dark berry fruits are complemented by smokey notes from the oak barrels and spice from the Petit Verdot, which makes up 13% of the blend. Voluminous and well balanced, direct and precise, all in all very classical Pauillac.
