HistoryCarta Roja is a range that evokes the flavours and aromas of Spain, showcasing the country's potential to produce well-structured, food friendly wines of tremendous value.
Regional InformationThe wine is made from grapes in the rugged valleys of DO Jumilla in southern Spain, where the warm, dry climate is ideal for viticulture. Low-yielding old bush-vines with roots deep in the baked limestone soil, create an intense wine, with smooth tannins and ripe berry notes.
VinificationThe grapes are hand picked and transported to the winery as soon as possible, before being crushed. Fermentation occurs at moderate temperatures between 24-25°C for 15 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel, where the wine will spend a short time in contact with the light lees, with minimal oxygen contact and racking. The wine is then lightly fined and filtered before bottling.
