The Astell & Kern PD10 is a digital audio player that applies AKM AK4498EX DACs for the first time in a DAP. Its HEXA audio circuit combines two AK4191EQ chips with four AK4498EX DACs and TERATON ALPHA technology to deliver natural, high-resolution sound.
First Application of AK4498EX in a DAP By applying AKM's latest DAC AK4498EX, they have achieved a more natural sound. Adopting a HEXA audio circuit structure, featuring two AK4191EQs for processing digital signals and four of AKM's latest DACs, the AK4498EX,combined with Astell&Kern's TERATON ALPHA technology, the highest level of sound quality is delivered.
Docking Cradle for Home Use With the included cradle, the Astell&Kern PD10 is not only a portable device, but can also be used as a home audio source. Simultaneous device charging and digital signal input via the USB port is supported when the PS10 is mounted in the cradle. The XLR balanced outputs on the back of the cradle allows connection to a two-channel home audio system or directly to powered speakers. XLR output levels can be controlled using the PD10's volume controls or set at a fixed output level by enabling the line out option in settings. An LED on the front of the cradle displays bit-rate information of the track currently playing based on colour.
