A blend of two varieties, Alto Moncayo Grunon is 50% Syrah and 50% Garnacha. The Syrah vineyards are located on terraced floors of the Huecha valley. With an average vine age of 10 - 15 years, the soils are stoney with boulders, providing good drainage and are well ventilated by the Cierzo wind. The Garnacha vines are grown in the vaso on Moncayo mountain. With an average vine age of 15 - 25 years, the soils are mainly ferrous clays and slates, with high contents of quartzite and sandstone.
Tasting Notes: An intense purple-red colour, the nose has great intensity with aromas of ripe black fruits, blackberries, prunes, black liquorice and spices. With a creamy mouthfeel, a powerful palate with big sweet tannins lead to a round, long and silky finish.
Serving Suggestions: Pairs well with beef, lamb, game and pasta dishes.
