Description
Planted on Kimmeridgian marne, the La Moussière vineyard is at the very heart of the 500 years old Domaine Alphonse Mellot, one of the Loire's most exciting and prestigious estates. The organically run vines are picked by hand and the wine is part fermented in large oak barrels to add depth and complexity to one of Sancerre's most beautifully balanced white wines.

History
One of the oldest and most famous estates in Sancerre and is run today by the 19th generation of Alphonse Mellot - Junior.
Regional information
Sancerre is probably the most famous central Loire Sauvignon appellation in France and arguably the most famous name for quality Sauvignon in the world. The relatively small area of production means that each vintage demand outstrips production.
Vinification
Hand-picked into small crates and then gently pressed in a pneumatic press, the juice is fermented in a mixture of stainless steel and large oak barrels with occasional lees stirring before blending and bottling.
