The Alessi Yucatan beech wood mill brings the elegance of Italian design to your table with its manual torsion mechanism. This wooden totem serves as a salt, pepper, or spice grinder, adding a sculptural touch to your kitchen.
With the Yucatan, designer Michele De Lucchi looked at table grinders and mills, and remained faithful to the classical mechanics of torsion, whereby the mill is held with both hands. In the process of designing the Yucatan and its sibling mill, Oaxaca, De Lucchi thought of Aztec totem poles. So, Yucatan and Oaxaca were born, two small wooden totems that find their place in the kitchen and dining room.
Through the choice of beech, the designer expresses his skills as a wood sculptor that he has been cultivating since the early 2000s. The fine finish with natural oil, which makes each piece unique and pleasant to the touch, is a tribute to craftsmanship.
The Yucatan can be used for salt, pepper or as a spice grinder.
Born in Ferrara, Italy in 1951, Michele De Lucchi has been a protagonist of uncompromising architecture and radical design since the 1970s. He has designed buildings for well-known companies and executed architectural projects worldwide, ranging from industrial buildings to cultural centres. His design language balances functionality and poetry, combining essential shapes, natural materials, and a craftsman's dual approach of innovation and tradition. His works are exhibited in the most important international art and design museums.
