M& S Soup Mix
A mix of pearl barley, peas, haricot beans and red split lentils mix. Perfect for adding to chicken stock, vegetables and fresh garden herbs for a hearty soup. Boil over the hob and drain well. High in fibre and a source of protein.


Storage
Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, peel off sticker and use to reseal pack.

Instructions
Boil - From Ambient. 50 minsSoak 100g soup mix in 500ml cold water for 8-12 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse thoroughly before cooking. Bring 500 ml of water to the boil, add soup mix. Boil for 10 mins and then simmer for 40 mins until tender. Drain well and use as required.Do not reheat.

Recipe SuggestionSpicy Sausage CasseroleServes 4Preparation Time: 10 minutesSoaking Time: 8-12 hours overnightCooking Time: 55 minutesIngredients100g Soup mix1 tbsp M& S vegetable oil8 M& S British pork sausages1 onion, sliced1 red pepper, deseeded and diced1x 400g can of chopped tomatoes1 tsp M& S chipotle chilli paste300ml M& S chicken stock, hot100ml Red wineSalt and pepperMethod1. Soak soup mix in plenty of fresh water for 8-12 hours or overnight.2. Add drained and soaked soup mix to boiling water for 10 mins. Drain and set aside.3. Heat the oil in a deep-sided frying pan and fry the sausages on all sides to brown.4. Add the onion and cook for 2-3 mins to soften. Add the soup mix, red pepper, tomatoes, chilli paste, stock and wine. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 40 mins until the soup mix has softened, stirring occasionally during cooking.5. Season to taste.To Serve: With warm bread rolls.
