If there is one Non vintage Brut Champagne that is universally appreciated, it is surely Lanson Black Label Brut, a great classic that embodies the ideas and the character of a great house. \The Lanson taste\ expressed in the Black Label Brut is the result of a specifically formulated blend perpetuated year after year. The three champagne grape varieties are used to make this wine: the predominant one is Pinot Noir, for body and power; over one third is Chardonnay, which adds finesse and delicate aromas; lastly, Pinot Meunier completes the blend with its tender, fruity notes. In all, this champagne is a blend of some 50 to 60 crus, each vinified separately until the time comes when it is used in the blend. To achieve a perfect harmony in the blend and ensure consistency in taste and style, Lanson use between 15-30% of reserve wines. One important point: Lanson does not do the malo-lactic fermentation. By excluding this process, the freshness and fruitiness of the individual cuvees are preserved and the wines stay fresh for longer.
