History
The house of Ayala was established in 1860 when Edmond de Ayala travelled to Champagne to learn winemaking methods and fell in love with the niece of his host Count of Mareuil. They received the Castle of A and the estate as dowry and started producing delicate Champagnes. These were very well received by aficionados, especially in the UK where Edmund's brother was well acquainted with the Royal Court. In 1882, Ayala is one of the 18 founder members of the \syndicate des Grandes Marques\.
