Tasting Notes
Star bright, clean lemon yellow in colour with some hints of green. On the nose it has high intensity with fruity aromas of pear, apple and citrus. On the palate it is rounded and long, lightly acid and bright, with a good fruity structure

History
The 2019 vintage can be summarised as a normal vintage for the region in terms of quantity. Following the good vintage of 2018, the vines self-regulated in terms of yield, and the crop picked stood at an average for the last 10 years. Fruit seemed abundant initially, but a complicated Spring at the time of flowering lead to some fruit drop, which reduced the final crop.

Regional Information
Monterrei DO takes its name from Monterrey, meaning the king's mountain in Castilian. Monterrei is the Galician spelling. The hilltop fortress still overlooks the vineyards, which run south and north of the road where it runs from Madrid to Galicia, close to the Portuguese border. The area was awarded DO status late, in 1996, although it had won provisional DO status in the 1970s.

Vinification Details
The grapes for this wine are hand harvested into small 20kg boxes and are destalked and pressed immediately upon arrival at the winery. The clean must is transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation at approximately 15°C for up to 21 days. Once this is finished the wine remains on its lees for two months. 20.000 bottles were produced.
