History: Our history and that of the valley have been linked for more than 165 years. In 1850, one decade after the foundation of Cafayate's city council, the first white vines were grown in our estate. In 1938, Arnaldo Benito Etchart bought this winery which belonged to his wife and started the development process which led its establishment to become what it is today: one of the most prestigious wineries of Argentina.
Regional information: Located amongst some of the highest vineyard of the world at 1700 mts. above sea level, Cafayate is one of the highest wine regions in the world. The result of the interaction between the climate, the soil, the geographical location, the height, the vines and the work of every person involved in the winemaking process is our wines´ unique expression and personality. Last but not least, at Bodegas Etchart we proudly sealed our commitment to the environment with Bodegas de Argentina´s sustainable Agriculture Certification.
Vinification: Produced under sustainable practices in the vineyards and in the winery. Our grapes cultivated in a high altitude desert in Salta, then fermented using wild ferments. Fermented between 24 to 26°C and with a skin contact of 2 weeks to enhance complexity.
