A treacherous fire in the Hemel-en-Arde Valley in January 2019 left the majority of Hamilton Russell’s crop scorched or smoke tainted, though what remained unscathed has created this beautiful, and inarguably precious, Pinot Noir from the Walker Bay appellation. Reflected within its complex, fruity profile are the personalities of all three Hemel-en-Arde appellations: the elegance of Upper Hemel-en-Arde’s red fruits and the darker characteristics of Hemel-en-Arde Ridge.
