Ahh, the maturation of fine spirits. Has there ever been a nobler cause? No comrades. And that's why we've taken a 1-litre freshly toasted oak barrel of medium-to-heavy char for all your maturing needs.Of course, you can't just fill your spirit into a sunflower oil drum, an empty can of chicken soup or a pair of cupped hands and expect it to taste like the sweet ambrosia of the gods. That's why we make our barrels from nothing less than the very best American White Oak.Wood is what imparts colour to fine spirits, and the vast majority of the flavour too. And, when it's charred heavily, you'll find all kinds of wondrous flavours such as spice, vanilla, treacle, toffee, hints of smoke, coffee... Pretty much all that is right in the world. The comparatively small size of the barrel in this kit means that the wood-to-spirit contact is proportionally very high. The result is a greatly reduced maturation time, during which all those delicious flavours will be cranked up a notch.
